Wolverine’s Project Bootstrap kicked off 2018 this past week in Denver, Colorado. Wolverine partnered with Colorado Homebuilding Academy for two days of events all about their students. Over the past year, Project Bootstrap has been focusing its efforts towards trade schools and apprenticeship programs, recognizing and celebrating the people who are committing to learning a skilled trade. Colorado Homebuilding Academy is a nonprofit organization that was created by industry experts working in collaboration with builders, universities, trade associations, foundations and schools. Their mission is to build, grow, accelerate and enhance homebuilding careers, industries and economics through the power of industry education, collaboration and innovation.
On April 17 and 18, Wolverine visited the Academy, as well as one of their satellite locations, to meet and thank students. The Academy has 6 different types of classes including Construction Skills Bootcamp, Construction Management and Youth Construction Apprenticeships. Students from a variety of programs were given the opportunity to interact with Wolverine staff, try on multiple styles of boots including the all new I-90 series , and leave with swag and boots.
In all, over 330 students and prospective Academy students were able to participate in the event. This included 150 Westminister High School youth, 80 students from both the Academy’s Basic Skills and Professional Construction courses, 70 Youth Construction Apprentices, 20 students from the Academy of Urban Learning, and 18 students enrolled in the Construction Management class.
Previous locations for Project Bootstrap include UnCommon Construction in New Orleans, LA., American College of the Building Arts in Charleston, SC., and Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, OK.
Additionally, Wolverine was featured on the Denver CBS Local for the event. To learn more about Colorado Homebuilding Academy, visit their site here.
