Comfort
Amazing craftsmanship - by , Oct 15, 2020

Very happy with these boots. After reading the reviews I went down a full size. However after trying them on, it still felt slightly too big. So I exchanged it for another half size down (1.5 sizes down from my sneaker size) and they fit perfect. Comfortable out of the box and the leather looks even better in person. Wolverine's customer service was very helpful in the exchange process. Highly recommend these boots to add to your collection.

Good quality but.. - by , Sep 01, 2020

I've had these boots for a year now, they look great and wear really well if you keep them supplied with cream/polish. I'll probably have them for a long time. That said, as a shoe, especially one that who's name suggests that you could walk 1,000 miles in, it's not great. The insole is fairly flat and hard. It offers little support and almost no impact absorption, especially all the ball of your foot. A days work on my feet in these makes for sore feet. The sole is strangely devoid of any grip grabbing features, it's completely flat with some very shallow horizontal grooves. It's easy to slip in the rain in these, forget about going near mud. I've done a few long walks in and my feet always hurt and I feel like I have to be really careful going down a hill with wet grass. Kind of ridiculous for something called the 1000 mile boot. I'll get some insoles and when the soles wear out I'll have the shoemaker put some thing decent on the bottom, but it's annoying to invest more money into something already pricey. Lastly, and this is happens with most boots of this design, you can't really relax and walk around with them loosely tied as the lace hooks tend to catch as one foot passes the other. I still like these boots, the quality of the leather is great, stitching is strong, great for riding a motorbike but not so much walking or standing.

Well Worth The Price!! - by , Jul 06, 2020

Lets face it we all know that there many great heritage boots out their that cost way less than Wolverine 1000 mile boots. However as soon as you view the box these shoes come in you immediately know these boots are all about quality. The boots are a work of art all on there own. I have owned these boots for a month and they are breaking in nicely and get better fitting every day. The chromexcel leather is so supple and looks amazing as it ages and scuffs. These boots are worth every penny.

Not bad for wide feet - by , Jul 05, 2020
4/ 5 Stars
I'm writing this review because I felt that no one had really commented on how these boots handle wider than average feet. I have 8.5 4E feet that are on the outskirts of 4E even. So far, and I've had the boots about a month now giving them plenty of time to break in, they've done an amazing job conforming to my ridiculous feet. I feel like they do a good job supporting my foot as I walk a lot in general. Truth be told I was a little worried to drop a lot of money on a pair of boots but so far there have been no major complaints. The only thing that I've had is that there is extreme asymetrical creasing on them (not from the width of my foot funny enough) but that there is loose grain creasing all over my right boot and normal creasing on the left. It's not something that really matters in the grand scheme of things but it's something that does catch the eye of an observer in the wrong way. I still wear them nearly everyday regardless but I feel like it does come with a pang of regret. I doubt this happens to everyone, and am sure this is just a natural thing to happen with non-bespoke shoes. Either way, hope this review helps someone make the decision to get a pair of these wonderful boots.

The 1000 mile boot is the best boot buy in the world. - by , Jul 04, 2020

Normally I never write reviews but after reading some of the comments in other reviews I felt the need to rebut. First I have owned multiple 1000 mile boots for over 15 years. In fact I own 4 pairs that are over 10 years old, they have all been resoled and wear like gloves; NO more like a second skin. As to the comments about not looking good after a little wearing that is NOT what I have found. I suspect it is due to lack of care. I wash my boots with a leather cleaner and treat them with the recommended oil once or twice a year. I polish them every couple of weeks depending on the wear and regularly get complements about how great they look when I have them shining like new, and that's a 10 year old boot. Oh yes I recommend at least two pair so that you can rotate daily wear, makes them last a lot longer. My only con on the boots is a personal issue, I wear size 11 3E's and those are only made in 2 or 3 colors otherwise I would own more than the 4 pair I currently have.

Quality as a utilitarian walking shoe. Style changes significantly. - by , May 27, 2020

I've owned by Wolverines close to 10 years. I've had them resolved about once a year with regular wear. However, I might add the "dress boot" style was gone within a couple months. Being the softness of the leather, with use notable wrinkles will form on the top of the boot creating kind of an upward bending clown shoe look. I still appreciate these boot from a heritage and utilitarian perspective, which I suppose was the original intent behind these boots. For example, if I'm doing some light work, I'll put these on instead of my sneakers. I would not recommend these for their style as the boot quickly lost its shape for me. If you want a work boot, there are tougher boots for a lesser price.

Great bday gift for the hubs - by , May 05, 2020

My husband wears almost exclusively tennis shoes and I wanted to get him some nice boots for when he wants to dress up, but not be too fancy. The 1000 mile boot was perfect. They fit him true to size, look great and make him feel like an adult. They are also super comfy for him. All in all, A+ bday gift that will last him a lifetime! Very happy.

Not as black as I hoped - by , Mar 30, 2020

I ordered the road master black version in size 12. The fit runs large as I needed to exchange for an 11.5. The black isn’t dark enough like a smooth matte black but more like the grayish hue you see in some of the pics. Almost a faded appearance so I sent them back for the traditional black that shines. It’s the lesser evil

Best boot I’ve ever owned - by , Mar 21, 2020

I purchased a pair of Rust 1000 mile boots in February of 2016. I wear them usually 3 to five days a week. They always look great with jeans. The only thing I’ve ever had done to them was replace the laces. They are comfortable and very easy to walk in. Whenever this pair wears out, I will definitely purchase another pair. They are awesome.
