Shrinking feet? - by , Aug 17, 2019

A funny thing happened when I went to buy new work boots earlier this week. I've worn size 8 1/2 Wolverine Herrin work boots for the last 10 years but when I tried one on Monday I found that I could have put both feet in a single boot and still have fit a small brass band in there as well. Not having my work boots on when I visited the store I simply thought I'd somehow miss remembered my size after all these years. The problem is that Herrins don't come any smaller than size 8 1/2 and the only pair of Wolverine size 8 boots the store had were still a size too large. The store graciously located me a size 7 1/2 pair of boots at another store and had them shipped to the local store but now I've ended up in a pair of Rancheros. They fit well although but they're giving me a complex worrying that I'm somehow shrinking. I can't really say much about the quality other than they look almost identical to the Herrins I've always worn and the fit and feel is very similar. The color is a darker shade than what I'm used to but that's not a negative as the harsh chemicals I work around burn the lighter Herrins to almost an identical shade of color after a few exposures. I'm hoping they are built as well as I've had a pair of Herrins last 5+ years as long as I keep them covered in bees wax to keep the leather from absorbing any harsh chemicals. If I forget to seal them with the wax I may only get 6 months out of a pair but then that's my fault as I know better. The only real negative I can find is they didn't have the little rubber Wolverine name tag on a chain attached through an eyelet as past Herrins did. I never used the darned thing but just thought I needed to say something negative so folks didn't think I was being paid to say nothing but good things about the boots.

This is a great product. Bought them for work in a wielding shop. They are comfortable and are holding together great. I love that the color does not show or seem to hold dirt and grim. With the price for sure.
