Comfortable and beautiful I absolutely love these boots! I was a bit hesitant about the "gold" leather, but it's a nice touch, and makes the boots look a little more feminine. I did have to size down like others have said. I usually wear a 9 wide in running shoes and an 8.5 in dress shoes. I ordered these boots in an 8.5, but my heels were slipping slightly when I walked, so I exchanged them for an 8, and they fit perfectly. And they're comfortable to boot! ;) I'm ecstatic with this purchase.

Faux paint makes boot look gaudy. Husband purchasing for wife as a Christmas present. I'm definitely a boot guy. I've mostly worn hiking boots in my teens, as and adult through my time in the military and now to a 30 year old man... boots all the way. It just happens that my wife and I share the same shoe size and she's worn a few of my boots (non-Wolverine brand) several times. I thought it would be nice for her to have a pair of her own. She's not a fan of the capped-toe like I am, and in my research the 1000 mile is mid-to-upper tier dress appearance non-capped-toe boot. First off, a major concern is the appearance. In the pictures on the website, I see that they have a faux worn look applied. I assumed that the leather was tan underneath and that the faux look was the mimic the patina of a well worn boot. Men, being the type that would wear a shoe until its dead, easily achieve this look. Women typically wear lots of shoes, so having this desired look out of the box is a huge plus. That was, until I got a hold of the shoes myself. Nearly the entire surface of the boot that is leather is covered in what looks like a thinned down gold paint that was liberally applied with stencils and a 3/8" brush. It's very gaudy looking in my opinion; Almost DIY arts and crafts project gone wrong. I hate to say it, but my first impression was that the shoe looks like something a stripper would wear. It's very gold. The entire leather upper seems to be coated in what I assume is a thin clear coat that was spray applied, leaving the entire shoe shiny minus the faux gold painted area's that are extra shiny. The parts that do not have the gold paint do look pretty decent, although they are few and far between due to the liberally applied gold paint. Although these are not work boots by any stretch of the imagination, the over all construction seems decent. The leather is quite thin measuring in at around 1/16th of an inch and slightly thicker in some areas. The triple stitching on the sides is a nice touch, although the center white stitch is a little drunk and weaves around a bit on the right side of the left shoe that I received. Not a big deal, I'm scrutinizing. On the right shoe, the black threads that attach the upper to the sole are easily visible and are spaced 3/8" of an inch apart. While my wife might not care, if these were my boots I would return them on this fact alone. They already look like they are coming apart at the seam before being worn. Like I said, I'm scrutinizing... but when I buy boots I expect them to last when properly taken care of. Since my wife and I wear the same shoe size, I tried these on. She had mentioned before, that my boots seem too flat. Well, these seem like high heels to me. In comparison to a typical mens boot, the arch area seems to start immediately past the ball of my foot and remain quite level all the way to the heel. This may be perfect for women, but would leave me with a raw heel as this arch would cause my heel to constantly move up and down in the boot. I would assume that a women that is used to wearing something with heels would probably feel at home in these boots. Instead of waiting till Christmas, I figured I would give her these boots as soon as possible to determine what she thinks about the gold paint and fit. In my opinion, I am leaning towards return. I feel that the gold paint could probably be removed (or at least knocked down a bit) with a stiff bristled brush and some saddle soap, although I doubt they would allow a return if we were unsuccessful. Unfortunately Wolverine doesn't have a 1000 mile in womens that is a lighter color without the faux treatment. I should have probably went with one of the custom boots and the gold leather there, although the lead time is 30 days. I ordered these boots on a Friday, they shipped on Monday and received them Wednesday.

Several problems I love the look of these, but after one week of normal city wear, the grommets have rubbed off all the color on the tongue, and the heel is detaching from the boot! This is really unacceptable for this price and claim to quality, and I assume Wolverine has a great customer service solution to problems like this, since it sounds like this is not the first time a customer has experienced this problem.

Broke on the second use The stitching on my boots came apart the second time I used them. After spending 5 days emailing customer service they told me to fix them on my own and I was offered my 25 dollars to cover the repairs. I feel like for an almost 400 dollar boot wolverine should do a better job of standing behind their products.
