The Wolverine 1000 Mile Collection by Samantha Pleet, inspired by famous women explorers, reflects Samantha’s one-of-a kind, mystical-meets-modern design aesthetic. To style the Fall ’12 look book for the collection, we were thrilled to partner with Mariah Kunkel of Quite Continental, who beautifully captured the spirit of the explores for which the shoes are named.
View the complete look boot and Mariah’s insight on the styling of each look at www.wolverine.com/lookbook/sp2012 and get a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot on Quite Continental.
Check back often for more news on the collection!

On April 5th, American born photographers Mikael Kennedy and Sean Sullivan (who you may know from the 721 LTD videos) will set out from Los Angeles, CA, deep into the country on a 5,600-mile road trip to explore the heart of America. In a project titled Ramblers Bone, Sullivan and Kennedy, both veteran travelers of the American highways, will spend 30 days exploring the southwest and documenting their travels on www.ramblersbone.com and on twitter @ramblersbone.
Wolverine is proud to sponsor these two artists, letting them loose on the two-lane black tops and dirt roads of America deep into the wilderness of the West. We will send them off from
The Stronghold on Thursday, April 5 from 6-9 p.m. (1625 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice, CA, 90291, www.thestronghold.com). Stop by if you’re in the area!

In the coming
weeks, the Wolverine 1000 Mile Collection will release a limited edition boot
under the imprint 721LTD (named as a nod to the original 1000 Mile boot
reference number). To celebrate the release, we commissioned a short film
series to document the unique journey of these 1000 Mile boots. (If you haven't seen it, check out the first film too.) The second film
in the series guides us through the process of
crafting the shell cordovan 721LTD boots.

ROCKFORD, Mich. (March 19, 2009) - Recognized by its long-standing heritage of comfort, durability and style, Wolverine® is debuting a one-of a-kind collection of boots and shoes inspired by its own classic designs. The new collection, available in stores this fall, is comprised of four pinnacle collections that reflect the authentic style and craftsmanship that became a benchmark of Wolverine footwear from the very beginning.
More than 125 years ago, Wolverine founder G.A. Krause built a company on a dream of creating finely crafted footwear using the best materials of the time. Inspired by hard-working men, Krause began a footwear company that would soon innovate the industry. The first of its kind, the Wolverine 1,000 Mile shoe was created in a time when men were looking for authentic craftsmanship and footwear that would last. The Wolverine 1,000 Mile Shoe had all these characteristics as well as superior comfort. Advertised as comfortable enough to “give you 1,000 miles of wear,” the shoe became a wardrobe staple for men of the 20th century.
"The ideals and practices of Wolverine as a brand remain the same since its inception," said Roger Huard, Vice President of Product Development. "Creating a collection of footwear that pays homage to our beginnings is an exciting opportunity to grow as a brand. We are extremely proud of our heritage and the result of 125 years of exceptional design is the new 1,000 Mile Collection."
The cornerstone of the new collection, the 1,000 Mile Boot is crafted with the same attention to detail found in the original 1,000 Mile shoe. Wolverine designers worked meticulously to replicate the original aesthetic of that first boot created so many years ago. Made in America, the boot features soft, supple leathers in weathered tones, a stacked leather midsole and outsole and classic welt construction.
The Gentleman Collection, combines functionality with style. This new series of boots blend the sensible style and classic design of the original with distressed leathers and modern details for a new look with a vintage feel.
Motivated by the functionality of the quintessential military boot, the Garrison Collection employs all the attitude of a combat boot with a refined attention to detail that makes it classic Wolverine. Featuring a more aggressive outsole, the Garrison is available in both oxford and eight-inch styles in supple leathers.
The Gentry Collection showcases Wolverine’s history of creating high-end outdoor boots and is inspired by the timeless practicality of the true outdoorsman. Both the chukka and seven-inch lace-up feature beautifully designed uppers with leather and Pendleton® wool insets.
The 1,000 Mile Collection will be available at retail beginning in August 2009.
